Newnan Hiking Club

The agenda for the NHC is simple, get together every other month and discuss hiking, the club, and the next (or previous) trip.  There will be a planned outing, roughly every 2 months, or more often if others step-up and organize a trip.  Day hikes to multi-day backpacking to cabins, all ages and experience levels are welcome.

March 8 & 9  Pine Mountain Campout, Bonfire, and Day hike.  Come for the day and stay for the
             fellowship; camp at FDR State Park - Cancelled/SEE MARCH 22
MARCH 22  This opportunity just presented itself (3/19) and isn't on the calendar {it is now :-)}. 
Mark Christopher, a NHC member and fellow Pine Mountain enthusiast, is leading a day hike to 
Pine Mountain on Saturday, March 22nd. Mark has in mind to do a loop of 4.5 to 8 miles, 
depending on what the group is up for. Mark proposes getting together for Mexican food (yum!) 
after the hike. - COMPLETED

March 29 & 30  Introduction to backpacking; overnight trip to Providence Canyon State Park

September 13 Day Hike at Red Top Mountain State Park

November 7, 8, 9 Mountain Cabin retreat; 2 nights in the cabins and day hike around North Georgia

is a clean, comfortable haven 5 miles above Amicalola Falls.  Mary & I have been; ask us about it.
McIntosh Reserve: McIntosh Reserve Park is a 527-acre facility operated through 
the Carroll County Recreation Department.  Named for Chief William McIntosh, Jr., 
the park is located approximately 35 miles southwest of Atlanta and can be 
reached via GA Hwy 16 from Carrollton or Newnan, and GA Hwy 5 from Douglasville.
